CMC Boulder Needs a Rock Leading School Director for 2013

August 1, 2012

Seeking Rock Leading School Director for 2013

The Boulder Group is currently accepting applications for the 2013 Traditional Rock Leading School Director. The director’s responsibilities include organizing instructors and vetting potential students for the school, overseeing the introductory lecture and field trips, and tracking the progress of the students.

Many thanks to Clint Locks for his dedication in serving as the RLS Director for the last several years.

Please send inquiries to Brenda Leach, the BMS Co-Chair, at bms@cmcboulder.org.

Rock Lead School – Gear Donation Opportunity

June 2, 2012

The Boulder group’s Traditional Rock Lead School is beginning soon!

We’re soliciting any new or gently used traditional climbing gear. We have 3 climbing racks for students who don’t yet have their own equipment. However, these racks are quickly approaching antique status.

We’d appreciate your donation of gear manufactured in the last few years. Drop it by the Boulder Group Clubhouse at any time, with a note stating it’s for the RLS.

There is a possibility of a tax write-off, as an incentive. See office for details on that.

Thanks!

Clint Locks
Director-Boulder Group RLS

2012 Rock Leading School Announcement

March 30, 2012

Rock Leading School

The Boulder Group’s Rock Leading School is accepting student applications. The purpose of this school is to train prospective and beginning leaders in the proper techniques to lead rock climbs safely and efficiently. It is anticipated that sixteen people will attend. As a bonus for their volunteer efforts, qualified Basic Rock School assistants and rock climb co-leaders will be given preference.

This class will consist of one evening lecture and three field trips on the dates listed below. The cost of the class is $110. The climbs selected for you to lead will be based on your ability and will be rated 5.6 or less. You will be encouraged to lead at least one climb without a safety top-rope during the course although this is not a requirement for successful completion of the course. Previous rock leading experience is not required.
