Friday , 10/5/2012 , Trad Climbing and Camping at Elevenmile Canyon

Spend a weekend climbing multi-pitch trad routes on excellent granite and sleep under the stars. Can’t get much better than that! Elevenmile Canyon is 45 miles west of Colorado Springs and is pretty much abandoned by climbers in the fall. It’s a gorgeous canyon with a trout stream running through it…bring your fishing pole too! Splendid long routes starting at 5.5.

This is an advanced trip focusing on improving leading skills. Rock Lead School or equivalent is prefered and participants may be asked to share leads. Bring your racks. Trip officially begins at 5 PM Friday; each participant is responsible for getting to Elevenmile Canyon. Arrive earlier with a climbing buddy if you plan to climb on the 5th, before the trip officially begins. Camp Friday and Saturday night.

Participants are responsible for their own camping gear and we’ll share campsites. Routes will be selected among participants based on skill levels and interests and parties will be broken into groups of 2-4 per route. Bring your own Elevenmile guidebook (by Ben Schmitt) or mountainproject printout with beta. Trip officially ends on Sunday afternoon. For more details or to reserve your spot email Jeffrey Boring at jboring@larimer.org.
