Best of Boulder Hikes! From East Portal TH hike up the S Boulder Creek Tail to this alpine lake, nestled below the Continental Divide near Rogers Pass. Meet at East Portal parking area at 8:00 am (west of Rollinsville at train tunnel). Standard gear for high elevation hikes – good hiking shoes, hat, rain gear, sunscreen, water, lunch, etc. Previous moderate B or better hiking experience. From Hessie TH in Indian Peaks hike 6 miles to Bob & Betty Lakes then ascend Skyscraper Glacier up to the continental divide. Descend via King Lake trail. This is a good first snow climb; we can practice self-arrest. Depart Boulder 4:30 a.m. for long day. #38 in Dave Cooper’s CO Snow Climbs book. Ice axe, crampons, helmet, and harness required.

Saturday , 7/14/2012 , Mt Neva, N Ridge /Part of Front Range Scrambles!
From the Buckingham/Fourth of July campground in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, hike to Arapaho Pass (11,900). Continue west, then north, up ridge to Mt Neva summit (12,814). Descend the south ridge to a saddle, then descend benches eastward to unnamed lakes below, looping back to regain the Arapaho Pass trail. Must be in good physical shape for hard hiking. Moderate trail goes through varied woodland and open country to a lovely lake on a shelf above Wild Basin. We will hike to Sandbeach Lake and fly fish for the native Greenback cutthroat trout. All fishing is catch and release.
