Will run for about an hour on the trails at Doudy Draw. May extend or cut mileage depending upon energy, time, and weather. Start with active stretching. All abilities and club sections welcome. Friday , 5/18/2012 , Swanson’s Arete /Eldorado Canyon State Park
“This classic route scales the prominent west arete of Lumpe Tower. Offers great climbing in a dramatic position, one of the best routes of it’s grade in the canyon.”-Steve Levin Starting pitch is the West Chimney, 5.6 PG13. Two long pitches of sustained and exposed 5.5 climbing extend from the Red Ledge to the top of the Lumpe Tower. We will rappel down the Dirty Deed Gully, back to the Red Ledge. Then one last rappel down West Chimney back to packs. Meet at 7am at carpool location. There will be a 2 dollar fee for parking. Bring helmet, backpack big enough to hold a rope, climbing harness and shoes, belay device, prussiks, a couple locking caribeaners, 10 essentials, a thin rain/wind jacket, water and food for climb, and a nut cleaning tool. Hike to the climb involves an hour of ascending steep stone steps, ladders, and light bouldering. Trekking poles may be desired. Be prepared for adventure, this is a multi-pitch climb at one of the most popular walls in Eldo!

Saturday , 5/19/2012 , Climb Mt. Stanley and ski the Stanley slide
We’ll leave a car at the base of the slide then skin up Stanley. One of the greatest ski tours in the state! We’ll skin up Mt. Stanley for a spectacular ski down the slide path to hairpin #1. I expect the participants to have taken the equivalent of Avy 1 and participated in a field trip using digital beacons, probes, shovels and wands. All participants are to carry beacon, probe, and shovel at a minimum. Tele or AT gear is fine. skins are a must. “Tele/AT Backcountry ski clinic” skills or equivalent. This is a long, rugged trip. Participants must very good backcountry skiers and in excellent physical condition.

From Hessie TH in Indian Peaks hike to Bob & Betty Lakes then ascend Skyscraper Glacier up to divide. Descend via King Lake trail. Good first snow climb. Depart Boulder 5 a.m. for long day. #38 in Dave Cooper’s CO Snow Climbs book. Ice axe, crampons, helmet, and harness required.

“The first trip of the CMC was made to the top of South Boulder Peak Thursday May 30, 1912” – Mary Sabin Excatly 100 years later we will commemorate this trip by climbing S Boulder Peak from the South Mesa Trailhead just east of Eldorado Springs. The trip will start at 9 AM.

Hike trail to saddle between east and west summits of North Twin Sister. Ascend east summit of the North Twin. Hike/scramble south to a saddle, then up South Twin Sister. Retrace route to east summit of North Twin. Then ascend west summit of North Twin and return to trailhead. Must in good physical shape for hard hiking; second peak requiring scrambling optional. Ice axe, crampons, Helmet, Harness required. Couloir narrows and steepens at top. 9 miles roundtrip and 4,300 ft. elevation gain. Depart Boulder 5 a.m.
