La Plata 14,336′ – Ellingwood Ridge ( Centennial Peak Climb Celebration Fest )
Difficult D-E
Pace: Moderate
Difficulty: Scrambling

Fri Night, Camp Near TH. Sat (early start!), Climb Ellingwood Ridge Route to Summit. All day assault includes a long and arduous ridge climb. Once committed, there is considerable difficulty in retreat, as there is 3rd/4th class scrambling for ~2 miles above treeline. A helmet is required as well as rock scrambling or climbing experience to match the seriousness of this climb. Prior LaPlata experience is a bonus.

Post hike, we’ll celebrate the 100th CMC Anniversary at McPhelemy Park in Buena Vista (food, beer & music). Hikers will need to register separately for the event (25$).

Post party, we can camp Sat night at CMC member’s property (between BV and Fairplay). Return to Carpool spot on Sunday morning. Plans to be firmed up closer to date.
